Monitoring

Whether it’s working carefully to avoid making careless mistakes, or being careful about what one says and does, monitoring is a critical skill for success.  Children are taught to slow down and pay close attention to their work process and to make careful choices, generally.  Building skills in this areas requires the child to become more aware and engaged with their environment and work style.

  • Learn to slow down and work carefully.
  • Learn strategies that will help you to successfully check work for mistakes.

  • Pay attention to handwriting.
  • Get better at monitoring how you use strategies for completing multi-step projects more successfully.
  • Become aware of how your behavior impacts others.
  • Notice when your actions bother others.
  • Learn to engage in an evaluative process before responding or reacting.  In other words, learn how to “Stop and Think.”
  • Become more self-aware, generally.
