Organization and Planning

An important part of academic success is being able to keep track of one’s belongings, assignments, and deadlines.  Also, develoing a plan for completing work and improving productivity is empowering and tends to boost confidence and feelings of success.  Some feel that half of task completion happens before it begins – in the organization and plan. Once these steps are accomplished, the roadmap for the task is set, and the path to success and completion is more easily followed.

  • Learn to manage supplies and space.
  • Learn to write and follow steps necessary for completing tasks.
  • Learn to break tasks down into smaller steps.
  • Learn to use graphic organizers and make outlines for writing tasks.
  • Enhance relationship with time, set and meet deadlines, and pace workload.
  • Learn to estimate time needed to complete a task.
  • Understand distributed vs. massed practice and why studying or completing tasks over time vs. cramming is much more prudent.
